Difference 1: Overhead cranes and gantry cranes have different appearances.

Difference 2: Overhead cranes and gantry cranes have different running rails.

1. Overhead crane is hoisting equipment that is horizontally mounted on the rails of the pillars between the fixed spans of buildings and used in workshops, warehouses, etc.

2. Gantry crane is an upgrade of overhead crane, also known as gantry crane. At each end of the main beam there are two tall outriggers that run along the tracks on the ground.

Difference 3：Overhead cranes and gantry cranes have different application.

1. The bridge of overhead crane runs along the track laid on both sides of the bearing beam, which can make full use of the space under the bridge to lift materials without being affected by ground equipment. A kind of lifting machinery with a wide range of applications and a large number of them is more common in workshops, warehouses and other rooms.

2. The gantry crane has its own legs, and the crane wheels run on the ground rails. It makes up for the condition that there is no bearing beam. It has the characteristics of high site utilization rate, large operation range, wide adaptability and strong universality, and is widely used in the port freight yard.
