How to judge whether the wire rope is scrapped or not? It's to be use or scrappe is mainly based on the degree of broken wire of the wire rope and some other conditions. The scrapping standard is as follows:

1. The number of broken wires in a twist pitch of the wire rope reaches 10% of the total number of wire ropes. Such as rope 6 × 19 = 114 wires, when the number of broken wires reaches 12 wires, it should be scrapped and renewed, such as rope 6 × 37 = 222 wires, when the number of broken wires reaches 22 wires, it should be scrapped and renewed. For a wire rope composed of thick and thin wires, the number of broken wires is calculated as one for each thin wire and 1.7 for each thick wire.
2. If the radial wear or corrosion of the wire rope exceeds 40% of the original diameter, it should be scrapped. When it is less than 40%, the number of broken wires can be reduced and scrapped according to regulations.
3. The number of scrapped wires of steel wire ropes for lifting hot metal or dangerous goods shall be half of the scrapping standard of steel wire ropes for general cranes.
4. For structural steel wire ropes that comply with the standards of ISO2408 (General Purpose Steel Wire Rope Characteristics), the number of broken wires scrapped should be in accordance with the number specified in GB5972-86.
5. The whole rope strand should be scrapped if it breaks.
6. When the diameter of the wire rope is reduced by 7% or more relative to the nominal diameter, the wire rope should be discarded even if no broken wire is found.
7. The exposed hemp core should be discarded.
8. If the wire rope has obvious corrosion, it should be discarded.
9. Partially elongated outer steel wires should be scrapped in a cage-like state
10. Compared with the typical examples that may appear in the steel wire rope in GB5972-86, the same ones should be scrapped.
